Jeremy Fletcher started on the front row alongside Ethan Ayars after earning his fifth Continental Tire Pole Award of the season. Championship points leader Spike Kohlbecker started third and quickly overtook Fletcher and Ayars on the opening lap to lead the race.
Fletcher dropped back to fifth on the opening lap, allowing Ayars and Parker DeLong to challenge Kohlbecker for the lead. The first of three full-course cautions came out early in the race after a solo spin by the No. 24 of Robert Mosteller, who was making his GR Cup debut. Kohlbecker began to pull away again once racing resumed before a second caution brought the field back together.
Ayars found himself in a tight battle with Will Robusto as the two raced side-by-side for the final podium position, opening the door for Fletcher to begin his charge back to the front. Fletcher completed passes on both Ayars and Robusto and then set his sights on DeLong, who was running second.
The third and final caution of the day came out when Massimo Sunseri went off track in Turn 1. On the ensuing restart, Fletcher took over second from DeLong but was unable to track down Kohlbecker, who drove to his 13th career GR Cup victory.
Podium
Kohlbecker’s 13th career GR Cup victory moves him into a tie with Gresham Wagner for the most wins in series history. Fletcher recorded his seventh career podium finish, while DeLong earned the first podium of his GR Cup career.
Race Awards
- Fastest Lap: Spike Kohlbecker clocked the fastest lap of the race on late in the race on Lap 20 with a time of 1:36.552
- Hard Charger: Max Schweid started 18th and drove his way through the field, gaining 12 positions to earn his second career Hard Charger Award.
- Endava Highest Finishing Female: Maite Caceres earned her fifth Highest Finishing Female honors of the season.
- WWEX Group Highest Finishing Legend: Livio Galanti finished 17th to bring home his ninth career Highest Finishing Legend award.
