TechSport Racing controlled the front row for Race 1 as Spike Kohlbecker earned the Continental Tire Pole Award on Friday, while his teammate Parker DeLong qualified second. Will Robusto and Jeremy Fletcher quickly made their way to the front as a four-car battle for the lead developed early.
DeLong eventually took the lead from his TechSport Racing teammate as he, Kohlbecker and Robusto began to pull away from the field. Just behind them, a battle between Garrett Manes, Beltre Curtis and Michael Edwards developed as they fought for a top five position. Manes and Curtis collided while coming through Turn 7 late in the race, sending Manes’ No. 11 GR86 into the grass and relegating him to a 26th-place finish.
At the front, DeLong held off his hard-charging teammate in the closing laps as the pair pulled away from Robusto. DeLong ultimately drove to his first career GR Cup Series victory, while championship contenders Kohlbecker and Fletcher finished second and fourth, respectively.
Podium
DeLong’s win marked his fifth career GR Cup podium finish, all coming within the last seven races. Kohlbecker’s runner-up result was his 11th podium in 13 races this season and the 29th of his career. Robusto rounded out the top three, earning his 11th career podium finish.
