Racing driver Max Hewitt joins BSI Racing for the 2024 Toyota GR Cup season. Hewitt, who is 22 years old, enters the Toyota GR Cup series for the first time, while also making his debut in a sportscar series.
A native of Houston, Texas, the 22-year-old makes the leap into cars after an extensive karting and open-wheel career. Hewitt boasts numerous regional karting championships and has competed for Team USA twice. Hewitt is also a SKUSA Pro-Tour Vice-Champion before making the switch to recently competing in the likes of Formula Mazda and F3.
“I was born to be in racing.”, said Hewitt.
“I’ve been in racing since I was in a kid kart at the age of five, and my initials are literally ‘MPH.’ I’m really excited to race in the Toyota GR Cup and really happy to be with BSI Racing. It should be a fun year!"
Hewitt will graduate from Baylor University in May with a degree in communications.
“We are so happy to have Max and his family on board for GR Cup this season.”, said Team Owner Shea Holbrook.
“Max is a talented driver, and we can’t wait to see how he fares this season. We are excited to add more drivers to this series and grow BSI with a competitive roster. This is a great series. Toyota does a fantastic job of promoting these drivers, and we’re thrilled to play our part by putting drivers like Max into fast cars where they can be their best.”
The Toyota GR Cup season begins in just a little over a month, with the first race at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, on April 5-7. Max will make his rookie debut, then.
