Westin Workman and Ethan Goulart once again led the field to green for Sunday’s race at Barber Motorsports Park. Action sparked early, with Max Schweid and Will Robusto locked in a fierce battle for fifth just eight minutes into the race. Meanwhile, Jenson Sofronas was forced to serve a drive-thru penalty, and both Max Stallone and Liam Harrison charged forward, each gaining four positions in the opening laps.
The fight for podium spots heated up when Spike Kohlbecker closed onto the bumper of Goulart for third, while Schweid, Robusto, Parker DeLong, and Lucas Weisenberg ran nose-to-tail for fifth. Trouble struck with 30 minutes remaining as the Paityn Feyen and Harrison made contact, both coming down pit road for repairs.
Momentum shifted when Robusto worked past Schweid for fifth, kicking off a stretch of two-wide racing with DeLong and Weisenberg in the mix. Weisenberg ultimately secured seventh after a lap-and-a-half battle with DeLong. Up front, a four-car battle developed for third, and Robusto sliced through, overtaking both Kohlbecker and Goulart to grab the position. The shuffle allowed Schweid to close in, though Kohlbecker managed to hold onto fifth.
At the front of the field, Jeremy Fletcher reeled in Workman and began mounting a challenge for the lead with 25 minutes to go. The first attempt down the inside of Turn 5 fell short, but Fletcher remained on his bumper. Behind them, Stallone continued his charge, climbing to 11th with 16 minutes remaining.
With 12 minutes left, Kohlbecker powered past Goulart for fourth. Goulart overran Turn 1, forcing him to settle into fifth under heavy pressure from Schweid. Both Kohlbecker and Schweid carried visible damage in the closing laps, but the focus stayed on the front of the field where Fletcher was still chasing down Workman.
With four minutes remaining, Fletcher stayed glued to the leader’s bumper and even gave a nudge into Turn 5, but Workman held strong under pressure. At the checkered flag, it was Workman who scored the race victory and clinched the 2025 GR Cup Series Championship.
Podium
With the win, Workman earned his 22nd career GR Cup podium, pulling even with Gresham Wagner for the all-time lead. Fletcher finished second to collect his second career podium, and Robusto completed the top three with his fourth podium to date.
Race Awards
After starting 17th, Max Stallone climbed eight spots to secure a top 10 finish and the Hard Charger Award. Jeremy Fletcher added to his podium performance by recording the fastest lap of the race at 1:37.306. Isabella Robusto claimed 10th place and the Highest Finishing Female Award, while Rutledge Wood earned his second straight WWEX Group Highest Finishing Legend honor.
