TechSport Racing controlled qualifying at Road America, with Max Schweid earning his first career Continental Tire Pole Award and Parker DeLong qualifying second in his GR Cup debut. Due to inclement weather, the Race 1 began under yellow flag conditions behind the safety car before going green with 33 minutes remaining on the clock.
DeLong held off his teammate on the opening lap as drivers settled into the wet conditions. Jeremy Fletcher of Copeland Motorsports came out strong in his GR Cup debut, moving into second before eventually taking the lead with just over 30 minutes to go. After starting fifth, RVA Graphics Motorsports by Speed Syndicate’s Will Robusto charged to the front, passing Schweid and DeLong for second before challenging Fletcher for the top spot.
As the two battled into Turn 1, Fletcher and Robusto made contact, sliding wide as Robusto held on to take the lead. However, race control issued him a drive-through penalty for the incident, dropping him to the tail of the field and handing the lead back to DeLong.
As the clock wound down, battles ensued throughout the field, highlighted by Copeland Motorsports’ Jaxon Bell’s charge to the front. Bell, DeLong, Schweid, Spike Kohlbecker, Ford Koch, and Westin Workman ran nose-to-tail around the 4.025-mile course.
Koch slipped past Schweid for fourth just as DeLong retook the lead from Bell in Turn 13. This opened the door for Kohlbecker, who passed Bell for second with five minutes to go. The lead pack crossed the start-finish line with under three minutes left, setting up what would be the final lap.
Kohlbecker pressed DeLong into Turn 5, where DeLong’s No. 47 machine slid wide, opening the door for Kohlbecker to take the lead. Bell and Workman also got by DeLong for the final podium positions.
Kohlbecker hit his marks through the final nine turns after taking over the lead and took the checkered flag, claiming his first GR Cup victory of the 2025 season.
Legends Cup
In Round 3 of 6 of the WWEX Group Legends Cup, Livio Galanti came out on top, taking the checkered flag in 16th overall to lead the Legends class. Farran Davis secured his first Legends Cup podium with a second-place finish for RVA Graphics Motorsports by Speed Syndicate, while John Lennon rounded out the class podium, bringing his BSI Racing machine home in third.
Podium
Spike Kohlbecker tallied his seventh career GR Cup Series victory, tying him with 2023 champion Tyler Gonzalez for second most all-time. The win also marked Kohlbecker’s 16th career podium finish.
Finishing second, Jaxon Bell now sits just behind Kohlbecker with 15 career podiums. In third, Westin Workman earned his 20th career GR Cup podium, moving him within striking distance of the all-time record of 22 held by 2024 champion Gresham Wagner.
Race Awards
After recovering from a drive-through penalty, Will Robusto recorded the fastest lap of the race on Lap 14 with a time of 2:40.838. PT Autosport driver Max Stallone earned Hard Charger honors after gaining 10 positions to finish eighth.
In addition to his Legends Cup victory, Livio Galanti claimed the WWEX Group Highest Finishing Legend Award, while Paityn Feyen secured the Endava Highest Finishing Female Award.
