After coming up just shy of the pole for Race 1, Copeland Motorsports driver Jaxon Bell topped the charts Sunday morning to claim his second career Continental Tire Pole Award. Saturday’s winner, Lucas Weisenberg, continued his strong weekend and lined up on the front row alongside Bell. The two leaders were able to pull away at the start of the race as a back-and-forth battle took place between Ethan Goulart and Will Robusto for third.
Brett Kowalski and Zach Hollingshead found themselves fighting for position inside the top 10, with a big slide from Kowalski allowing Hollingshead to take over the spot and open the door for Max Schweid. Near the front of the field, Westin Workman was on the move, passing Robusto for fourth and eventually overtaking Goulart for the final podium position.
The safety car was deployed for a full-course yellow with just 12 minutes remaining, as Weisenberg and Workman had their sights set on Bell. On the restart, Workman made a move to the outside of Bell entering Turn 1 but was unable to make it stick as they raced single file through the esses.
On the following lap, Robusto overshot Turn 1 and collected Weisenberg, who was running in third, opening the door for Goulart to reclaim the final podium position as time wound down. The field stayed green as Bell held off Workman for the win, and Legends driver John Dean was able to sneak by Goulart in the closing minutes to claim third place.
