Returning to the circuit of his first career GR Cup Series win, Spike Kohlbecker of TechSport Racing once again showed speed and topped the charts in first practice with a time of 2:28.471. Copeland Motorsports driver Jaxon Bell led the charge in second practice with a time of 2:28.717.
PRACTICE ONE
Kohlbecker laid down the fastest lap in opening practice followed by Westin Workman (Copeland Motorsports), Bell, Braydon Arthur (JMF Motorsports), and Gresham Wagner (Copeland Motorsports) rounding out the top-five. As time on the 30-minute practice session expired, the top-nine in the field was separated by less than one second.
PRACTICE TWO
Jaxon Bell topped the charts in second practice, edging out his teammate Gresham Wagner for the top spot. The second practice saw seven different teams represented in the top-10, including Bell, Wagner, Max Hewitt (BSI Racing), Arthur, Kohlbecker, Steven Clemons (BSI Racing), and Adam Brickley (Copeland Motorsports) who were all in the top-10 during both practice sessions.
WHAT’S NEXT
Saturday will get started at 9:50 AM CT with Race 1 qualifying followed by racing action at 2:25 PM CT. Fans can catch all the action live on grcup.com or the GT World YouTube page. Faye Hadley, also known as ‘Pistons and Pixie Dust’ on social media, will be attending COTA with the Toyota GR Cup Series this weekend and will be hosting an appearance at the Toyota hospitality tent from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM CT on Saturday, May 18.
