The Toyota GR Cup Series returned to action at Sebring International Raceway (Sebring, Fla.) with two practice sessions on Friday, September 22. 31 drivers worked their way around the 3.74-mile, 17-turn road course getting their GR86 Cup cars dialed in for the weekend. Championship points leader Tyler Gonzalez (Copeland Motorsports) continues his strong run in the inaugural GR Cup season, sweeping both practice sessions on the day.
PRACTICE 1 | RESULTS
Gonzalez topped the charts in opening practice with a time of 2:25.511, narrowly edging out Spike Kohlbecker (TechSport Racing) with a time of 2:25:891. Gresham Wagner (TechSport Racing), Jordan RickSegrini (BSI Racing), and Justin Piscitell (McCumbee McAleer Racing) rounded out the top-five in the first session.
PRACTICE 2 | RESULTS
After a P1 run in first practice, Gonzalez again found himself at the top of the board with a time of 2:25.923. Wagner ended the 30-minute session in second with a time of 2:26.070. Corey Heim (Nitro Motorsports), Kohlbecker, and Paul Bocuse (Copeland Motorsports) rounded out the top-five finishers.
What’s next?
Saturday will feature the first race of the weekend with qualifying slated for 9:50 AM ET followed by racing action starting at 1:50 PM ET. Tomorrow’s race can be streamed live on grcup.com and the GT World YouTube page. Fans can also watch via Twitch by joining Ash Vandelay on the SRO Motorsports channel.
